Merry Christmas! Peanuts style "I like the dirty guy"

Merry Christmas everyone! I have not posted in so long because my computer crashed etc. etc. I didn't want to miss the opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  This is one of my favorite Christmas cartoons that really puts me in the mood for the holidays. I watched it as a child and it brings back special memories. We especially like to watch this with the family right before we head out to see all the Christmas lights. We get up and do silly dances with the characters. My baby says "Mom, I like the dirty guy", everytime we play this dvd.

I'm still in the mood

Part two of the In the mood by China Glaze. The first 4 pictures are of Gold Brown to Golden Mauve.  After freezing my hands for quite a while, I did not see a change in color. Ugh, the things I do for polish ;)  The golden brown color is so beautiful- has a little iridescent and golden going on.  I don't have many polishes in this soft taupe/brown color family but this is my favorite color of that family.   The next pictures are Mocha to Light Cappuccino. Once again, my nubbins were freezing and there was no color change in sight. This color has lots of micro shimmer in a smooth finish.  It reminds me of the shimmer in the suede YDKJ by OPI.

In the Mood? by China Glaze

Hello! I was rearranging my polishes and came across these oldies. This is the In the Mood line by China Glaze. I am not sure what year they came out.  The first color is called Raspberry to Orange Sherbet.  In the 3rd picture shows the Orange Sherbet color when your hands are warm. Here, the shimmer is more apparent because I was out in the sun for awhile. OT:  Why is raspberry spelled with a p? It is as if a random letter fell out of the sky and landed in the middle of the word. The 4th picture is the raspberry color with cold hands-holding an ice cube.  I like both variations of color.  The next color is Teal to Silver. The 5th picture shows the silver color when out in the sun. The 6th picture is Teal with ice in hand. IRL the teal was more vivid. Since my hands are usually cold the polish is more teal on me. Cold hands warm heart :)

Revlon Exu-blu-rant

Hi all. I have been missing in action because my family has the flu and my computer crashed!  So, I have not been doing my nails due to nursing duties, work, computer follow up etc.  I did manage to squeeze this in. Nail of the morning is from the Maybelline pop of color line called exu-blu-rant. The middle finger shows the true color. I don't know why the other nails look off.  I say nail of the morning because I took it off by lunch.  This color did not go well with my skin tone. It is supposed to be a dupe for RBL Dead Calm (which I don't own).  This color made my nails look like a dead clam!  Ha ha. I hope to be back to health and have my computer problems fixed soon.

Emerald City by Ultra Pro

NOTD: Emerald City by Ultra Pro sold at Sally Beauty supply for $2.99 The application is smooth and it dries very quickly. It is truly an emerald green. I couldn't stop looking at my nails. I thought about doing a Konad with this but the color was so pretty I thought it was best to let it stand alone.

Believe by Lippmann

NOTD:  This is Believe created with Cher (that is what it says on the bottle). This was a gift. I don't think I would have ever bought it for myself.  When I saw it, I had flashbacks to the year I only wore two colors of polish: OPI's What's Dune? and Not so Bora boring pink.  I was going through a minimalist period.   Anyhow,  I was pleasantly surprised at the subtle pink iridescent shimmer. This is a good color for when I need something more conservative. Or as in this case, when a nail breaks and I am trying to hide the glob of glue that is holding it in place.

Yasmeen is a Disco Queen

NOTD: is Yasmeen by Zoya with boundless color in Disco Dazzle. Yasmeen is such a beautiful purple. This is the first and only Zoya I own. I like the smooth application and it doesn't chip for days.  However, I did notice it takes a looong time to dry, even with Seche Vete top coat.  I hope everyone is having a great weekend!  MY other love is the store anthropologie.  Here's a cool blog and she is celebrating her 1 year with this Effortless Anthro!

Bonjour! OPI Eiffel for this color

NOTD: OPI Eiffel for this color with Color Club Magic Attraction on the tips. On the ring finger I used a glitter I bought at the Dollar Tree.  I am an admitted francophile, so when La Collection  de France came out I was so excited. I originally bought this color just for the name. I try to limit myself on vampies because I really can't tell the difference on most.  But since I do not own Lincoln Park after dark, I thought it would be a good one to have in my collection.

Happy Birthday by Lippmann

NOTD: Happy Birthday by Lippmann (2 coats) $18 from Nordstrom.  I just love this glitter because it is so colorful and easy to apply. The glitters are different shapes: dust glitters, hexagon, round etc.  There is no need to place the glitters on the nail because each stroke leaves so much glitter on the nail.  I usually don't pay more than a five dollars for certain types of polish like black or glitter. However, this was polish lust at first sight.  Now it has grown to polish love.

I used Sally Hansen age correct growth as a base. It is supposed to make your yellow nails white. I have been using it for 1 week but can't see a difference yet.   Directions say- for best results don't use polish for 4 to 6 weeks. Well that is not going to happen.  Over that, I used a franken sheer raspberry color to hide the yellow in my nails. I got the idea from Konaddict, here is the link Sheer Franken Recipe IRL it is not that noticeable but in pictures it does show yellow.

Cover Girl Crackle nail polish

NOTD: Cover Girl Crackle nail polish (2 coats)over WnW shine.  I also used Nail Tek foundation as a base coat and Poshe top coat.  The crackle nail polish came out in 2001 or so.  The polish has to be applied over a wet polish underneath, in order for it to adhere to something. Otherwise it will just crumble right off your nail.   If you want thick cracks, apply the nail polish thick. As it dries the cracks magically appear. I had the crackle polish in blue, white and orange. Now, I only have a few bottles of crackle nail polish in orange.  Still crossing my fingers that they would bring this one back because it is crack-a-li-cious.

Nail Junkie over See You Soon

I hope everyone is having a good Saturday. As for me I am off to have some Pumpkin Patch fun with friends and family.  NOTD Pic 1: Sinful's Nail Junkie over See You Soon.  See you Soon ($2.99) reminds me of Lippmanns' Don't tell mama ($16). In real life the color is more teal and glittery. Here it looks matte because I didn't use the flash. Pic 2 clay creation entitled Happy Me by my DD.

Essie Sexy Divide & m9

Hello! I saw Essie at TJ Maxx a couple of months ago for $3.99 and decided to give it a try. I was impressed it was so sleek and buttery, plus no chipping for days.  NOTD: I used Essie Sexy Divide as a base and Konad princess polish in hot pink with the m9 plate.
Pic 3 is what I bought at TJ Maxx. I'm trying to get my nubbins to grow. I'm not a biter, they just don't grow. When I was younger my grandma told me "Mija, rub garlic on your nails and they will grow". Umm, it didn't work.  I think she might have been trying to keep the boys away from me-that did work ;) I have tried Nailtiques and Sally Hansen to no avail. I'm giving Billionails a try. What helps your nails grow?

Opulent Cloud

My mani today is Opulent Cloud. Pic 1: As you can see depending on the lighting it looks grey-bronzy-purplish. On my ring finger , I have Hard Candy in Mr. Wrong. The camera could not capture the beauty of this polish.  Mr. Wrong is the party animal cousin of Opulent Cloud. So if you can't find OP, save yourself some gas and go to Walmart for Mr. Wrong. I am not in the 'I love it' band wagon for OP. I like the party animal cousin so much more.   I'm not sure I would have bought OP if wasn't L.E. and I didn't have extra bucks from CVS.

Dirty Birthday

NOTD: Misa's Dirty, Sexy, Money. I love this color! It reminds me of that summer long ago when I fell for that "bad polish".  I don't reminisce of things like my first kiss, but my first polish is a priceless memory. Misa's DSM is the closest I have come to recapturing that color. I also added Happy Birthday by Lippmann on my thumb and ring finger. Adding a glitter or Konad to just the thumb and ring finger gives me a little extra something, while still being able to see the pretty base color.

China Glaze Fortune Teller

Hello! This is my nail of the day. Fortune Teller by China Glaze. I used two coats and S.V. top coat. I was not able to capture the different sized orange glitter in this polish. I know there is a lot of hype around this polish and it is well deserved. The glitter seems to float to the top and really shine, as opposed to most glitters that have a layer of polish color that impedes the glitter shine (see picture 3 Milani). Picture 1 is outdoors, Pic 2 indoors, and the Pic 3 is outdoors  FT on pointer finger and Milani on thumb in Spellbinding.

Glad it's Fall

I went for a little wine tasting with my girlfriends this weekend. This is what I wore for my manicure. The base is Maybelline limited edition in Glad to be Green. It is a mossy olive green.  Very fall.  I also did a little fauxnad of grapes. I used a S.H. Insta-Dri in Mochachino for the vine and Violet Voom for the grapes.

Limey Critters

Here's my nail of the day: I used OPI Hey Get in Lime for the base. It is one of my favorite colors. Next I used Konad M30 (frog & piggie) with Konad princess polish in hot pink, Sally Hansen Insta dry in Voilet Voom and Jumping Jade. I just noticed I forgot to take a picture of Jumping Jade.  The m30 critters are so cute! It reminds me of a fun day at the County Fair.

Konad m10 with OPI What's Dune base

Tonight I did a fun mani designed by my daughter. She likes to do matching manicures when we go to birthday parties. I used OPI What's Dune? for the base and the Konad special polish in black for m10 and m57 (pinkie). I also added a few blue rhinestone's.  I look forward to doing our nails together. I didn't take a picture of hers because she fell asleep when I was doing laundry.

OPI DS Fantasy & Konad 57

I am so happy with the way this NOTD came out. I used one of my favorite colors DS in Fantasy by OPI. The color is gorgeous on its own. So, combining it with the Teal -love it! Here are the things I used:  OPI  DS in Fantasy for the base, Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Teal for the Konad plate 57 zebra and Color Club Magic Attraction on the tips.
